What can we do for each other and our community? That is what the Mountain Heritage Artisans Guild, based in London, KY, has come to represent since it was established in 2011.
The work of our members represents contemporary, traditional and experimental forms, and just as their development as artisans is ongoing so is our development as an organization. We promote fine art, folk art and original handmade crafts. If our efforts bring business success to some members, amen. If the guild shines a spotlight on talent, amen. If it helps people see the value of things handmade, amen again.
Through community exhibits and educational programs, the members of the guild hope to inspire creativity and heighten the awareness of the rich talent that is present in the Cumberland Valley region.
We call London home but reach into residences and workshops in many towns in the Cumberland Valley region and beyond. Many of our members are veteran crafters ready to offer help to novices and we celebrate the successes of everyone in our fold.
Thanks for visiting this website and please explore it to learn about our jurying process and meet some of our members. We also welcome “support” members who aren’t artisans themselves but love to work with them.
We meet on the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise announced) in the Community Room of the Laurel County Courthouse. The entrance is on Broad Street (back of courthouse) through double doors to the far right.
The meeting schedule for 2017:
No meetings in January or February.
Dates for the meetings are:
September 14 (not a third Thursday of the month, but the second Thursday. This will be our annual dinner meeting.)
Please mark your calendars!
