“I can’t remember what first sparked my interest in the art world, but I do remember as I was growing up it seemed that I was always drawing or painting something. My love for art was a gradual build-up over the years,” Lloyd says. “Growing up in a small farming community, I had plenty of time to explore the great outdoors. I spent many hours enjoying the beauty that God had so richly provided. For me the outside was not only a place to do chores but a huge playground. Within me there has always been an appreciation for the beauty of this area.”
Lloyd began art studies at Whitley County High School and now holds a BS Degree in visual art from the University of the Cumberlands, a Masters Degree and a Rank 1 form Union College. Lloyd taught art for one year at Williamsburg City School, twenty-six years at Whitley County High School, and served for four years as Gifted and Talented Coordinator for the Whitley County School System. For the last six years he has enjoyed being able to pursue his art full time.
Over the course of Lloyd’s career he has maintained a small studio where he has sold thousands of his collector prints and original paintings. His work hangs in hundreds of private collections across the country and abroad. The demand for his art continues to grow.
A wide variety of subjects and moods intrigue Lloyd. It may be a flower damp with morning dew, an old weathered farmhouse wrapped in a blanket of winter snow, or the splendor of wildlife. With strokes of a brush or marks of a pencil, Lloyd is able to capture the uniqueness of our mountains, heritage, and people.
Lloyd and wife Judy live in Williamsburg, Kentucky where they maintain his art studio.
